The short answer
What does good towel hygiene look like in a salon? One towel, one client, every time, washed at controlled commercial temperatures between uses. The first part every salon knows. The second is where standards quietly slip.
We supply laundered towels to salons across Northern Ireland, so we see the difference commercial washing makes to the same towels, week after week.
Salon towels carry colour, bleach and product. A domestic 40 degree wash leaves residue that builds up over weeks.
Residue stiffens towels, greys them, and shortens their life.
A machine running all day costs power, water, staff minutes and floor space.
Most salons that switch tell us the numbers were closer than expected before counting any of their own time.
Most salons run about three days of towel stock. We collect on a schedule and return everything folded, shelf-ready.
Bags are barcoded, so your towels come back to your salon and nowhere else.
Most salons in towns like Ballymena, Coleraine, Antrim and Ballymoney started with a machine in the back room because there was no obvious alternative locally.
That machine then quietly sets the ceiling on how many clients the salon can take in a day, and someone ends up staying late to empty it.
Salons in Belfast and Lisburn tend to move to a laundry sooner, mostly because floor space in a city unit is worth more than a washing machine.
In plenty of salons the towels go home with a member of staff at night, to be washed in a domestic machine and brought back in the morning.
It is unpaid work, it is unreliable, and it means your hygiene standard depends on somebody else’s washing machine and somebody else’s evening.
It is also the first thing salons stop doing when they move to a laundry, and the change staff notice most.
Roughly three days of your client volume. Tell us your numbers and we will help you work out the float.
Our process is built for salon staining, and anything needing a rewash gets one automatically. Genuinely ruined items get flagged honestly.
Start with one collection a week and adjust. No contract, ever.
Hygiene is the easy half. Softness and longevity come from commercial washing, and the back-room machine was never free.
